The Department of Fisheries has set
up the followings as its main mandate
1.
To maximize utilization of aqua resources available within the
state.
2.
Increasing
the productivity level of culture ponds to 3 ton per ha/year by
2010-11 A.D.
3.
Increase in fish production for making the
state self-sufficient in fish.
4.
Entrepreneurship development in the sector through self-employment
in the rural sector, specially for un-employed youths.
5.
Socio Economic up-liftment of fishermen community with special
emphasis on SC, ST communities and women groups.
